In the mid-80s, I lived and worked in China. When I returned home in 1985, I set out to write a book partially based on my experiences. Decades passed, and it remained unwritten. But finally, this year, I finished my novel. It is different from what I first intended. Entitled, The King of Ningxia, it shifts in time between then and now. Primarily, the story is about the transformation of two people. On a deeper level, it is about the transformation of two countries.
